Rhombus Bee Escape

This bee escape is a significant improvement on of the various designs of "puzzle" bee escape which have been around for a few years.  It is used under a clearer board with a central 60mm diameter hole and is mounted diagonally across the board.  It should only be used for a short period of from 4 to 12 hours.  If you leave it on too long the bees will begin to find their way back.   Always ensure there is a gap of at least 6mm between the escape and the top bars of the frames below. 

In a strong hive do not try to clear all the supers down into the brood chamber at once.  If necessary fit an empty super of drawn comb below the clearer board to ensure the bees have somewhere to go.  Alternatively, clear only some of the supers and return them under the board after extraction in order the remaining supers can be cleared.
