Hive Entrance Reducer

A reversible entrance reducer for our hives.  Used one way up the hive entrance is reduced in hight to a single bee space which assists the bees defend their colony and effectively keeps out mice as they cannot sqeeze under the gap.   Used inverted the reducer completely seals off the hive which is ideal for moving the hive although for any journey longer than about an hour it is essential the roof is inverted and a propolis/travelling screen used to give ventilation.

The entrance reducer is shown fitted at the lower half of the picture on the left.  Better images to follow.

The upper part of the picture at left shows our forthcoming queen trap anti-swarming sytem in the closed position.  It uses the same hive entrance reducer either to close off the upper entrance (as shown) or as a landing board when the upper entrance is opened.   This system will go on sale soon.
